LOCATION
Lagos is the most beautiful town in the Algarve. A walled city dating back to the 16th century that has been modernized and yet it has retained its character. Modern shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars have not spoilt it. There are several churches steeped in Portuguese history. Other features such as the Slave Market and attractive squares where, at night, entertainment can often be found, making it a very interesting town. Sagres, the second most westerly point in Europe where the famous Henry the Navigator created his maritime school is only 30kms away.
Lagos also boasts of a magnificent Marina with its avenue of palm trees.
COMMUNICATIONS
Lagos is served by Faro airport and the journey time is approximately 45 minutes on the A22 motorway. The apartment is four minutes from the motorway but cannot be seen or heard. Lagos has a train service to and from Faro. Taxis are quite reasonable. Most people will pick up a hire car at Faro Airport; however it is recommended that the car is hired prior to arrival.
GREAT LOCATION
The Monchique Mountain is an hour’s drive north of Lagos. A very pleasant drive, beautiful views and good restaurants making the journey well worthwhile.
GOLF COURSES
Lovers of golf and bowling are well catered for. Boavista Golf Club is only five minutes away. Palmares and the famous Penina courses are also nearby. Parque da Floresta is about 20 minutes by car. PDF has a golf course as well as a bowling club.
BEACHES
Within a five to ten minutes drive from the apartment there are many “blue flag” sandy beaches, most with restaurants close by.
